My little red tether is my anchor in running with my friends. A beautiful guide dog has been my tether/anchor in mobility and independence for 17 years: 1. Pantera 2. Cricket, and now my beautiful 3. Georgina (Georgie). A life of family and friends is my joy and anchor in life.

In Memory of my sweet Cricket

It is only fitting that I share here first about my dear Cricket.  She passed away last night surrounded by her two families in our home.  Cricket would have been 13 in June.

To describe Cricket is: LOVE, SERVICE & BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER.

Like she had lived her life, in her passing she was surrounded by the two families that she had brought together.  When Cricket retired, she had so much love to give.  She nor us wanted her left home for long days while we worked to a quiet house.  She spent her retired years with an amazing family who loved her and she loved them so much.  They were so kind and generous in letting us be a part of her life -- letting us tender her while they were on vacation, visit when we wanted, have her share in our celebrations and so much more.

Cricket taught to love, love, love.  Cricket taught me that even in doing those hard things .. being assertive with love is the way to go.  Whether it was going back into that store that told you to leave; sitting quietly with a group member in grief; showing up for a speaking engagement; just LOVE.

Cricket was an easy going guide dog that loved to work and GO.  She loved to serve. She was always right there ready to go take on the day and what the challenges may bring.  I knew with Cricket by my side -- we could do hard things and would have much fun along the way.

Oh how I love you Cricket.  I love that you taught me to "Look up, move forward" time and time again.

I am grateful you are not suffering yet oh my heart hurts as I miss you.  Your example of love, service, and inclusion will carry forward.

In gratitude for 7 amazing years as a guide dog and 4 as a loving pet.

Oh how grateful I am for my time cruisinwithcricket.

With so much love,

Becky

Book is now on Audible!! Look up, move forward

I am thrilled to share that my book:Look up, move forward is now available on Audible.

This was another learning process in the journey of self-publishing a book,.  I worked with a remarkable narrator.

In sharing my story, I have connected with so many wonderful people who have shared their stories with me.  So grateful.

Thank you to blog readers, family, friends, colleagues and so many people I have enjoyed meeting who have supported me in this journey.

If you have read my book and would like to leave a book review, I would be so grateful.
